The freedom afforded to every human to find and live his/her version of Truth is what makes human life so beautiful but then all of us get lost in trying to define/interpret it. Human life is actually very simple but we insist on complicating and entangling it and then spend all our lives trying to uncomplicate/disentangle it.
An interesting line I came across in a book rings true of the mentally disturbed world we live in – “Lunatics build castles in the air, psychotics live in them and psychiatrists collect the rent”. The Power/Wealth/Fame hungry people are the lunatics who reinvent new ways of playing the same old game and involve all of us(psychotics) in the chase and hence the ever growing need for psychologists/psychiatrists.
We all agree that we need to stop this age-old game and reimagine life to peacefully coexist with all other sentient beings but no one has a clue of how to do it? Consequently we continue doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results – which is insanity…
Then I realise that the solution lies not in the realms of politics, economics, religion, or any other collective/social endeavor but the realms of spirituality wherein you(individual) take ownership of yourself and how you choose to live/conduct yourself in this world. Spirituality is an individual pursuit to connect with the Divine within(Self Realisation) which is when you truly overcome the Shadripu’s (6 enemies of the mind) Kama: Desire or lust, Krodha: Anger, Lobha: Greed, Mada: Ego, Moha: Attachment, Matsarya: Jealousy.
